About the event

University College Dublin was delighted to welcome you to our first UCD and SMEs in Partnership Conference. Organised by UCD Careers Network and facilitated by Mr Anton Savage, broadcaster and presenter, it was a wonderful opportunity to learn, share and network with colleagues from around the country.

Taking place on the 18th of May in UCD's O'Reilly Hall, UCD provided insight from senior leaders sharing knowledge and expertise through presentations, and panel Q&A’s. 

Topics & Themes for the event focused on three areas: Talent acquisition, Sustainability, and Digitisation

The event was run with the support of IBEC, Irish SME Association, Enterprise Ireland and Regional Skills Dublin. 

The day was opened by Professor Marie Clarke, Dean of Undergraduate Studies & Mr. Anton Savage, Broadcaster followed by the first speaker of the day; Associate Dean Maeve Houlihan UCD College of Business; Director, UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business at UCD as she introduced a "Brave New World of Work".  

Phil Walker, Managing Director of EcomeritBobby Lambert spoke next on “Climate Action Leadership is good business” followed by John Ward, Partner, Head of Digital and Emerging Technology at EY Ireland who discussed "Tech Horizon: Global Trends in Digitalisation". 

The final part of the event saw an exciting panel discussion on 'Understanding and Accessing the UCD Talent Pool' featuring Dr. Barry Twomey, Director of the new 'ADVANCE Centre', Sorcha Mulcahy, Senior Project Manager, MicroCreds at UCD, Natasha Kinsella, Regional Skills Manager at Regional Skills Forum Dublin, Associate Dean Maeve Houlihan UCD College of Business; Director, UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business at UCD and Dr. David Foster, Director of UCD Careers Network. 

A wonderful event closed out with a Q&A session,  acknowledgement & Closing Remarks with host Anton Savage.
