The UCD Centre for Disability Studies is delighted to celebrate its 20th anniversary by hosting a number of events in UCD this summer. On July 14th we will be hosting a free all-day event ‘Discussions in Disability’ which includes discussions on individualised budgets, assistive technologies and risk. On July 15th Prof Mike Kerr, the leading international expert in epilepsy and intellectual disability will host an interactive workshop on “Epilepsy and Intellectual Disability; Reducing risk, improving quality of life”. Cliodhna O’Connor was recently awarded the Stress and Anxiety Research Student Development Award for her paper measuring the psychometric properties of the Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents. The Stress and Anxiety Research Society is a multidisciplinary, international organisation of researchers who share an interest in problems of stress, coping and anxiety with members from more than 35 countries. Cliodhna will travel to Croatia this summer to present her research at the annual conference and to be presented with her award.
