We are thrilled to share an update on our ongoing project, AlgaeBrew, and its recent milestone - the Midterm Meeting held on September 26th, 2023, at the University of Camerino, Italy. The project is now at its halfway point and will now enter its second phase. This meeting brought together our project partners for a comprehensive review of our progress to date and a collaborative discussion about our future plans.

At the Midterm Meeting, our dedicated team of partners engaged in fruitful discussions that covered various aspects of our project, including but not limited to:

Project Progress: We delved into a detailed analysis of the progress achieved during the first phase of our project. This included a review of milestones achieved, research findings, and any challenges encountered along the way.

Work packages Overview: The meeting offered a platform to revisit and discuss the various work packages of our project, particularly in WP1 (cultivation strategies on brewery waste) and WP2 (biorfefinery fractionation of microalgal biomass)Each work package was carefully examined, and partners shared insights, solutions, and strategies to ensure the smooth continuation of their respective tasks. We will share some of these updates in the near future.

Future Plans: AlgaeBrew will now enter its second phase, where we will scale up cultivation and biorefinery strategies according to the insights gained from the previous 18 months. The biomass obtained from the scale up will be used for aquaculture feed and biofertilser application, marking the commencement of WP3 (algae for aquaculture), WP4 (biomass residue as soil fertilisers), and WP5 (economic and environmental sustainability). We collectively brainstormed and outlined the steps we will take to bring our project to successful completion.

As a result of the Midterm Meeting, we are energized and committed to delivering on our project's objectives.

We would like to express our gratitude to the University of Camerino for hosting this pivotal meeting and to all our partners for their dedication and contributions to our project's success.

We are excited about the journey ahead and look forward to sharing our progress with you.
