Summer Schools

Explore, Enrich, and Experience Your Gateway to Summer Schools

Welcome to Summer Schools in Europe and the rest of the world, your ultimate platform for discovering and selecting the ideal Summer School that suits your interests and aspirations. To make studying abroad more accessible and affordable, UCD engineering students can now participate in Summer Schools for credit. Whilst some host institutions may offer tuition fee discounts, students will be expected to cover all costs of their summer school participation. Depending on the course content, summer school participation can potentially transfer back as a 5-ECTS/10-ECTS option or elective credit. Our Academic Exchange Coordinators (AECs) will review the course content and confirm before your participation if it can be applied to any option/elective credit on successful completion. The AECs are:

Qualifying Criteria:

Summer Schools will be open to both Stage 2 and Stage 3 engineering students.

Stage 2 Students:

Stage 2 students can apply the credit to their Stage 3 option/elective credit once approved by the AEC. This will reduce the workload and allow students to focus on their core modules.

Stage 3 Students:

Stage 3 students can participate in Summer Schools to enrich their studies and have a global experience to enhance their Resume, but due to the requirements of their undergraduate degree programme in Stage 4, summer school credits will not be transferred back.

How will it work?

Step 1 – Choose a Summer School that you are interested in. The list of Summer Schools on this page should be used as a guide only and is not a comprehensive list.

Step 2 – Fill out the application form Engineering Summer School Pre-Approval Form and submit it to your Academic Exchange Coordinator by email for review and approval.

Step 3 – Once approved by the AEC, students can apply directly to the Summer School.

Step 4 – Students must send an official transcript/certificate of completion from the host institution and a copy of the approved application form via the Student Connector once the Summer School has been completed to allow the Recognition of Prior Learning to be applied to the student's account in a timely manner.
