About Us

The UCD Office of Global Engagement comprises of UCD Global, UCD Centre for English and Global Languages, UCD Irish Institute for Chinese Studies, UCD Confucius Institute and Gaeltacht UCD. Led by Vice-President for Global Engagement Professor Dolores O’Riordan, we support UCD to aim to bring the best of the world to Ireland and the best of Ireland, including its distinct cultures, to the world.

UCD Global

UCD Global steers and guides the global strategies of the university, providing expert leadership in partnerships and engagement, international student recruitment and support, inbound and outbound mobility, and the international elements of the student experience. Leveraging relationships with external stakeholders, UCD Global works at the interface of the university and the international community. It supports university leaders to shape policy, works with Colleges/Schools and other support units to ensure delivery, and liaises with students and staff to measure success and impact.

UCD Centre for English and Global Languages

Established in 1989, the UCD Centre for English and Global Languages offers high quality language education in a range of global languages from Arabic, Russian, German, Swahili, Italian Japanese and French. The CEGL also offers a range of pre-sessional and pre-masters English language training for students aiming to improve their English language ability.

UCD Confucius Institute

The mission of the UCD Confucius Institute is to work with the Irish government, businesses and academia to develop strong educational, cultural and commercial links between Ireland and China. The Institute is a joint venture between the Office of Chinese Language Council International  (Hanban), Renmin University of China and UCD.

Gaeltacht UCD - UCD Global Centre for Irish Language and Culture

Fáilte! Gaeltacht UCD shares the Irish language and its associated culture globally, bringing the best of Ireland to UCD and the best of UCD to the world. The centre offers Irish language courses, cultural activities, translation services, exchange programmes, an international summer school and an award -winning Irish language residential scholarship scheme.
