Simple and Healthy Breakfast Ideas

It has been said time and time again that breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it provides lasting energy to keep you focused, improves academic performance and work productivity and those who eat breakfast are less likely to become overweight or obese. Check out the 5 simple breakfast recipes below (including the nutritional content) and hopefully they will be a great start to your day!

1) Sweet Overnight Oats

Overnight porridge oats (made with low-fat milk)

X1 teasp of honey

Handful of frozen mixed berries (defrosted)

1 small chopped banana

Calories: 313 kcal, Protein: 11g, Carbs: 51g, Fat: 6g, Fibre: 5g.

2) Eggs and Toast

2 scrambled/hard boiled eggs

2 slices of whole-grain toast (with small pat of low low butter)

Small galss of fresh orange juice (not from concentrate)

Calories: 438kcal, Protein: 25g, Carbs: 41g, Fat: 18g, Fibre 5g

3) Fruit Smoothie and Toast

Smoothie:

1 glass of orange juice (not from concentrate)

1 small glass of water

Handful of frozen mixed berries

2 tbsp natural yogurt

1 small banana

1 tsp honey

2 slices wholegrain toast (with small pat of butter)

Calories: 448 kcal, Protein: 20g, Carbs: 71g, Fat: 6g, Fibre: 8g.

4) Crunchy Fruit Yogurt

Pot of natural yogurt (200ml)

Handful of muesli (non-sweetened)

½ chopped apple

4 fresh strawberries

½ chopped banana

Calories: 262 kcal, Protein: 24g, Carb: 34g, Fat: 1.6g, Fibre: 4g

5) Avocado, Egg and Tomato

½ chopped avocado

1 chopped medium tomato

1 scrambled/hardboiled egg

1 slice wholegrain toast (with small pat of low low butter)

1 small glass orange juice

Calories: 381 kcal, Protein: 13.8g, Carbs: 31g, Fat: 20g, Fibre: 6g.
