Academic landscape architects' work: not small, not parochial by Joerg Rekittke, School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy
Earth Institute coffee morning, Thursday 16 November 2023, 10.45am, 4th floor kitchen, UCD Science East + Zoom
For this week's coffee morning, we're joined by Joerg Rekittke, School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy who will discuss Academic landscape architects' work: not small, not parochial.
Joerg Rekittke has recently joined UCD as the new head of Landscape Architecture in the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy. Joerg is an Associate Professor in Landscape Design, Registered Landscape Architect, and a skilled tree nursery gardener. Joerg's research interests include landscape design, urban design, landscape ecology, digital landscape architecture, geodesign and climate change. Joerg will be discussing his work and the discipline of landscape architecture, which in the 21st century should not be confused with historical garden art, cute “architect's parsley” or lovely decor. Landscape architecture, pursued academically, is an environmental, urban and ecological design discipline that is able to operate wherever there is outdoor space and no roof.
