We went to visit scientists and engineers in CÚRAM in Galway to talk to them about how they learn about our bodies!
Up In the Air
What / About
What goes on up in the air? Look up at the domain of birds, planes, bees, satellites and join our new friend Steven, together we find out about what’s happening in the sky and how we can keep the air clean and help the birds and bees. Soar high with Izzy and Phil to learn about protecting our environment and lots more!
Who?
We went to visit an airfield to see some aircraft up close and talk to pilots as well as chatting with researchers who work on controlling pollution, studying bees and even aerosols in the air!

What / About
What do you see? And how do you see it?! How do you hear? Go on a fascinating exploration of your senses with Phil and Izzy to uncover how science helps us understand more about how we interpret the world around us.
Who?
We got up close and personal with the worlds of augmented reality and virtual reality with computer science researchers in UCD, and put our taste buds to the test in the UCD Sensory Science Lab!
How its Made
What / About
Hold on tight, we’re taking a trip through time! Travel with Izzy and Phil to discover how things were made in the past, what kind of medicines were used and lots more! Find out how we make things today and what we can expect to see being made in the future!
Who?
We talked to lots of engineers and scientists and saw how people work with robots to make things. We even tried some prototyping and learned how to improve designs using the scientific method!

The Science Apprentice books were created for kids, by kids!
Discover the Wonder Panel.....
The Wonder Panel met with scientists involved in the project and worked with them in figuring out how to create the best books possible. The panel also helped our writer, Claire, to develop our stories and helped our designer, Martin, with page and character design. Each member of the panel is featured in the books and they shout out tips and tricks about cool things that readers can do. They’re just wonderful!
