Announcement of UCD Teaching and Learning Awardees 2021-22 by the Acting Registrar and Deputy President Professor Barbara Dooley on Monday 23rd January 2023.

"With the start of trimester two, I am delighted to announce the outcome of the Teaching and Learning Awards 2021-22.

The award scheme allows the UCD community to nominate colleagues engaged directly in teaching for an award. Between November 2021 and the end of August 2022, over three thousand nominations were received from students, faculty, and staff. Nominees were invited to apply for a college level award and following a competitive process 87 applicants were successful. A further competition led to 12 awardees being honoured with a University level award, the recipients of which are listed below.

Teaching Excellence Awards recognise individual faculty and staff in teaching roles for sustained commitment to teaching excellence and student learning and have been awarded to:

Dr Rachel Farrell, School of Education;
Associate Professor Jonathan McNulty, School of Medicine;
Dr Stefan Müller, School of Politics and International Relations;
Ms Orla Murphy, School of Architecture Planning and Environmental Policy;
Dr Gráinne O'Donoghue, School of Public Health Physiotherapy and Sports Science;
Associate Professor Emma O'Neill, School of Veterinary Medicine;
Associate Professor Aideen Quilty, School of Social Policy Social Work and Social Justice;
Professor Louise Rainford, School of Medicine;
Dr Seán Paul Teeling, School of Nursing Midwifery and Health Systems;
and Dr Ernesto Vasquez Del Aguila, School of Social Policy Social Work and Social Justice.

Awards for Exceptional Contribution to Learning recognise individual UCD employees who are engaged directly in teaching and or facilitating student learning and have been awarded to:

Mr Hans Eckhardt, School of Chemistry;
and Ms Evelyn Flanagan, UCD Library.

The awards, the highest UCD teaching and learning award, will be presented at a celebratory event in March.

It is wonderful to see the inspirational work of all nominees brought to light through these awards. Congratulations to all the awardees."
