Ignacio graduated from Alfonso X El Sabio University in Madrid in 2015. He then completed a rotating internship and a three-year master’s program in Small Animal Surgery at the same institution. Additionally, he pursued a postgraduate qualification in Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery at CEU University in Valencia. After some time in first-opinion practice, he undertook a surgical internship at University College Dublin in 2021, followed by a surgical residency and DVMS program which commenced in January 2023. His current research area investigates the possible protective effect of prophylactic treatment with antiseizure medication against development of post-attenuation neurologic signs in cats undergoing single congenital extrahepatic portosystemic shunt attenuation and prognostic factors for short-term survival.
