From the end of World War II until the energy crisis of 1973, curtain wall highrises were built across much of Europe with very little concern for the large amounts of energy that would be required to heat – and more often cool – them. This project addresses their retrofitting.

It intends to develop policy guidelines regarding when the original appearance of the buildings should be taken into account versus when architects and engineers do not need to be constrained by such factors while devising ideal solutions for reducing energy use through their reskinning.
