CAO applicants can add their name to a waitlist prior to becoming a UCD student. All other prospective students need to accept their UCD offer and receive a student number prior to applying for accommodation.

Click here for details on your eligibility.

You can only apply for accommodation if you have received your student number (an 8 digit number starting with 23****** for 2023/24 applicants).

No only UCD students can apply for UCD Residences accommodation.

In an effort to make accommodation available for all students UCD is growing the number of beds on campus and the development of accommodation is a key objective of the UCD Strategy 2016-2020. In the meantime priority has been given to new entrants to UCD CAO, International and postgraduate students in their first year at UCD. In addition beds are available for a number of scholarship programmes and a limited number of beds are available for existing UCD students.

For further information on allocations please see the allocation policy section of our website.

Once the UCD Residences occupancy period begins in September some accommodation on campus may become available as a result of cancellations. These rooms will be offered to students according to their position on the accommodation waitlist.

UCD Residences is open to all UCD students, mixed genders and ages. As the UCD Residences booking system permits students to select their own room it is possible for people who already know each other to select the same apartment if there is availability. However you can only select rooms that are available at the time you book. It is important to also note that students under 18 and over 18 will in all likelihood be sharing an apartment.

A number of wheelchair accessible rooms are available. For further information on accessible accommodation please visit Check your Eligibility and read the panel on : Access and Life Long Learning

The Accommodation Booking and Support Office assists UCD students with both on-campus and off-campus accommodation. UCD Accommodation Pad is a dedicated website for off-campus accommodation.

Upon booking a room with UCD Residences you will receive email confirmation of the booking and regular email communications in relation to check-in. Emails are sent to your UCD Connect account.

All new residents need to complete an online induction and agree their licence to reside. All licence fees must be paid prior to check-in. First time students will also need to upload a photo for their UCARD.

UCD Residences communicate regularly with our residents via UCD Connect email. Please ensure that you check your spam folder and your UCD Connect inbox.

Please also check your personal email as UCD can also copy information there if you have nominated a personal email account.

UCD Residences offers a variety of apartment types, including both "Apartment - Ensuite" and "Apartment - Shared Bathroom". When you make your booking application, you will be able to give three preferences on accommodation type which will allow you to choose either an ensuite apartment or a shared bathroom apartment. These rooms will then be allocated based on the preferences you have chosen, subject to availability.
