Chair in Animal Welfare & Veterinary Ethics

The UCD School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking to appoint an outstanding scientist in the field of animal welfare and veterinary ethics, with a focus on farm animals, within the broad context of 'One Health, One Welfare.' The ideal candidate will have:

  • A first-class record of publication, external grant funding and leadership in this area and will be expected to lead internationally competitive, externally-funded programmes of research 
  • A clear vision for research and teaching in this area and its contribution to the broader strategic vision of the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Health & Agricultural Sciences and the wider University 
  • Proven leadership and strategic skills, with the ability to forge new partnerships nationally and internationally
  • Proven ability to lead and contribute to a sustained national discussion, facilitating efforts towards Irish agriculture being an international leader in this area
