China Joint Colleges 3rd Workshop: Reflecting on Achievements and Looking Ahead
The third workshop organised by the China Joint Colleges brought colleagues together to reflect on achievements and explore future directions. The event was led by UCD Provost Professor Paul Fanning and BDIC Deputy Provost Ailish O’Hallaran, highlighting the strategic importance of the China Joint Colleges within the University.

Guest speaker Professor Dolores O’Riordan outlined how the China Joint Colleges align with UCD’s Strategy to 2030 and its vision as Ireland’s Global University. Over the past decade, UCD has strengthened its global standing, and this vision continues with a focus on extending global reach while embracing Irish roots. Central to this strategy are fostering cultural competence across the UCD community, drawing on Ireland’s rich literary and artistic traditions, and cultivating a welcoming, inclusive campus for international staff and students.

The strategy also emphasises building mutually beneficial global partnerships, enhancing UCD’s reputation for research and innovation, and attracting high-quality students who will become future global leaders.

A second guest speaker, Associate Professor Jennifer Keenahan, explored innovative approaches to teaching and learning in the age of Generative AI. Colleagues from BDIC, CDIC and GDIC also shared valuable experiences and feedback from their respective sessions.
