Proud to See a BDIC Final Year Project Published at IEEE CloudCom 2025
BDIC Student work, SmartIntent, at CloudCom 2025 in Shenzhen explores a simple, but powerful idea: “Buildings should understand what people mean - not just what they say” – explains Zhenghao Wu who was presenting at the CouldCom conference.
“Current smart building systems often face challenges such as complex device linkage and limited natural language understanding. Our research lab addresses these withSmartIntent, an innovative, intent-recognition-based smart building control system. It aims to build a system that allows users to perform multi-language, multi-device, and multi-mode control and automation settings through natural language – explain students on their paper.
This work originated from a talented BDIC FYP team — Shuyi Sun, Zhiyuan Chen, Dina Shi, and Chaofan Li — supervised by Dr. Hadi Tabatabaee Malazi, with additional support from Zhenghao Wu (UCD PhD student), who also presented the paper.
