Seminar on Research Collaboration between CHU and UCD

Tuesday, 2 December, 2025

CDIC Conference

A two-day research seminar took place from 30 November to 1 December 2025 at the Chang’an Dublin International College of Transportation in Xi’an. The aim was simple but important: to bring together staff from Chang’an University and UCD and see where our research interests overlap, especially in the areas of smart transport, infrastructure and emerging intelligent systems.

Conference 2

The programme began with short opening remarks and an overview of international research opportunities, followed by introductions from several schools across Chang’an University. The UCD group also presented their own areas of work, which helped to frame the discussions that followed. Later in the day, participants took part in themed sessions on topics such as smart infrastructure and intelligent transport. These conversations were productive and they helped everyone get a clearer sense of where joint projects might develop.

Conference 4

The second day focused on laboratory visits. The group toured a range of facilities, including labs for pavement loading, structural and wind engineering, vehicle performance and intelligent vehicle testing. Seeing the equipment and ongoing experiments gave both sides a better understanding of each other’s capabilities and sparked several ideas for potential collaboration.

Conference 5

The seminar closed on a positive note, with a shared intention to keep building on the partnership already established through the joint programmes. The two days were marked by open discussion, genuine interest in each other’s work and warm hospitality throughout.
