UCD/CDIC teacher promotes UCD programmes in India
In October, the Education in Ireland Roadshow fairs took place across five major Indian cities; Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Pune and Mumbai, offering prospective students and their families the opportunity to explore higher education options in Ireland. This year, CDIC teacher, Dr. Saptarshi Sen represented the UCD College of Engineering and Architecture at these fairs, engaging with nearly 100 students and parents eager to learn more about studying at UCD and the possibilities that Ireland offers.

Travelling through these vibrant, top-tier cities and interacting with so many motivated young minds was a rewarding experience for Dr. Sen. He had the opportunity to speak about UCD’s academic strengths, campus life, and the unique opportunities available to international students. Dr. Sen was part of a strong UCD delegation that included Prof. Jeremy Simpson, Dean of Science; Prof. Jos from the College of Social Science and Law; Mrs. Carole from UCD Smurfit School; Ms. Danielle from the College of Science; and Mr. Sean from UCD Global.

As part of his visit to India, Dr. Sen was also invited to deliver a guest lecture at Amrita University in Coimbatore, one of India’s leading private universities. The session was chaired by Dr. Dhanya Sathyan, Chairperson & Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, and Prof. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean of the School of Engineering and Professor of Chemical Engineering.

The lecture was attended by approximately 70 students from the Civil Engineering and Architecture departments, offering them valuable insights into educational and research opportunities at UCD. Dr. Saptarshi Sen also toured the Amrita Automotive Technology Centre (AATC), an advanced automation lab focused on automotive technologies. The centre presents significant potential for collaborative research in transportation engineering and urban planning.
