Successful Conclusion of the 2025 Summer Experience Graduation Ceremony at UCD Irish Institute for Chinese Studies
On 25 July, the closing ceremony of the 2025 UCD Summer Experience Programme, organised by the Irish Institute for Chinese Studies at University College Dublin, was held at the UCD Confucius Institute Building. Dr Anna Nunan, Director of the UCD Centre for English and Global Languages, Professor Liming Wang; Dr Fei Yuan, Director and Lecturer of the Irish Institute for Chinese Studies, attended as guest judges. Together with 25 students and teachers from various Chinese universities, they witnessed this important moment, marking a successful conclusion to the eleven-day study programme.
Study Achievement Presentation: Cross-Cultural Reflections in English
The core session of the graduation ceremony was the group presentation competition for the study tasks. Participants were randomly divided into 4 groups, independently selecting topics based on their observations and experiences during the study in Dublin. Through collaborative efforts, each group completed research, analysis, and presentation design. Covering diverse fields such as education, culture, and society, their topics ranged from "The Innovative Genes in Ireland’s Education System" and "Influences of Sino-Irish Language Differences on Thinking Patterns" to "The Inclusiveness of Dublin’s Urban Culture" and "The Development Ecosystem of Tech Enterprises in Ireland," demonstrating in-depth reflections on cross-cultural issues.
All groups delivered their presentations in English. With seamless teamwork and fluent expressions, members vividly elaborated on their viewpoints using data, images, and personal experiences. Whether interpreting the cultural symbols behind Irish dance or analyzing technological innovations at Huawei Ireland, their performances showcased solid research capabilities and unique perspectives, earning frequent rounds of applause from the audience. After comprehensive scoring and discussions by the judges, the 4th group stood out and won the "Best Presentation Award" for their in-depth exploration of local Irish cultural characteristics, linguistic insights, and engaging delivery.
Certificate Awarding: Witnessing Growth, Embarking on New Journeys
Following the presentations, Professor Liming Wang and Dr. Anna Nunan jointly awarded graduation certificates to all teachers and students. In his speech, Professor Wang acknowledged the students’ active participation and remarkable progress during the programme, stating, "This journey is not just an accumulation of knowledge, but also an expansion of cross-cultural horizons and an improvement in communication skills. It is hoped that you will turn this experience into motivation for future global exploration and become bridges for Sino-Irish cultural exchanges." Dr. Anna Nunan extended her blessings, encouraging the students to maintain curiosity about different cultures and continue growing through mutual learning among civilizations.
From the opening ceremony on July 17th to their last day in Ireland on 27th, the students spent eleven days attending insightful academic lectures, visiting historical sites, experiencing local culture, and conducting independent explorations. They not only deepened their understanding of Irish society but also gained friendship and growth through teamwork. Graduation is not an end, but a new starting point. Carrying the valuable experience of this transnational study, the teachers and students will return home with fruitful gains, integrating the insights into future study and life.
都柏林大学爱尔兰中国研究院2025年暑期研学项目结业仪式圆满落幕
7 月 25 日，都柏林大学爱尔兰中国研究院2025 年暑期研学项目结业仪式于都柏林大学孔院大楼隆重举行。都柏林大学英语及全球语言中心主任 Dr Anna Nunan、爱尔兰中国研究院王黎明院长、讲师袁飞作为评委嘉宾出席，与 25 名来自中国多所高校的师生共同见证这一重要时刻，为期十一天的研学之旅画上圆满句号。
研学成果展示：全英文呈现的跨文化思考
结业仪式的核心环节是学生小组研学任务展示评比。参与项目的学生随机分为 4 组，围绕在都柏林研学期间的所见所闻自主选定话题，通过分工协作完成调研、分析与展示设计。从 “爱尔兰教育体系中的创新基因”到“中爱语言差异对思维模式的影响”，从 “都柏林城市文化的包容性”到 “科技企业在爱尔兰的发展生态”，各组选题涵盖教育、文化、社会等多个维度，展现了对跨文化的深入思考。
展示过程中，所有小组均采用全英文汇报，成员们配合默契，语言表达流畅自然，借助数据、图片与亲身经历生动阐述观点。无论是对爱尔兰舞蹈背后文化符号的解读，还是对华为爱尔兰公司技术创新的分析，都体现了扎实的调研能力与独特的观察视角，现场不时响起热烈掌声。经过评委嘉宾的综合打分与商议，第四组凭借对爱尔兰当地人文特色、语言理解的深度挖掘和富有感染力的呈现，脱颖而出斩获“最佳展示奖”。
证书颁发：见证成长，共启新程
展示环节结束后，王黎明院长与 Dr Anna Nunan 共同为全体师生颁发结业证书。王黎明院长在致辞中肯定了同学们在研学期间的积极参与和显著进步，他表示：“这段旅程不仅是知识的积累，更是跨文化视野的拓展与沟通能力的提升。希望大家将这份体验转化为未来探索世界的动力，成为中爱文化交流的桥梁。” Dr Anna Nunan 也为同学们送上祝福，鼓励他们保持对不同文化的好奇心，在文明互鉴中成长。
从 7 月 17 日的开营仪式到 27日，同学们在十一天里聆听学术前沿讲座、探访历史古迹、体验民俗文化、开展自主探索，不仅深化了对爱尔兰社会的认知，更在团队协作中收获了友谊与成长。结业不是终点，而是新的起点，带着这份跨国研学的宝贵经历，师生们满载收获踏上归途，将所见所感融入未来的学习与生活。
