On Tuesday, January 28th, the School of Computer Science came together to celebrate Chinese New Year, embracing the rich cultural diversity within our community. With a significant number of Chinese students and staff, as well as strong academic ties through our BSc Software Engineering program at Beijing-Dublin International College (BDIC), our connections to China remain a vital part of our School's identity.

This year’s celebration saw enthusiastic participation from both students and staff, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. Attendees enjoyed a selection of traditional snacks, including fortune cookies, sweets, and sunflower seeds. A specially catered lunch from Hakkahan, an authentic Chinese restaurant located at UCD’s Confucius Institute, featured a variety of classic dishes such as sweet and sour crispy chicken, Black Bean Beef, Mapo Tofu, and stir-fried green beans, all served with rice.

To further immerse ourselves in the festivities, we live-streamed the CMG New Year’s Gala, a highlight of the celebrations, which was greatly enjoyed by all.
