Steffen Rimner Invited Speaker at HPAIR Annual Conference

Steffen Rimner, Assistant Professor in the History of International Affairs and Ad Astra Fellow at the UCD School of History, was an invited speaker at the Harvard College Project of Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) Annual Conference 2021 under the theme “Embracing Change: Thinking in Innovation” in a panel on Comparative Approaches to Drug Policy and Harm Reduction. His presentation was based on his book “Opium’s Long Shadow”, published by Harvard University Press ((opens in a new window)https://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674976306). He was joined by Dr Diana Kim, Assistant Professor at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and Dr Rebecca Baker, Director of the Helping to End Addiction Long-Term / NIH Heal Initiative at the National Institutes of Health in the United States. Several hundred delegates attended the panel. The conference was opened by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO (World Health Organization). The HPAIR conference is held on an annual basis.
