Assoc. Profs. Kodate and Mannan attended Chiba University Graduate School of Nursing’s 50th Anniversary Event

UCD’s partner university, Chiba University (CU) is the only national university in Japan with a nursing department (independent of medical department). It was established in 1975, and this year marked its 50th anniversary. Assoc. Profs. Nao Kodate (School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice) and Hasheem Mannan (School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems) were invited to attend the ceremony, and rejoined the research team led by Profs. Wenwei Yu (Director, Center for Frontier Medical Engineering, CU), Sayuri Suwa (former Vice President, CU) and Mina Ishimaru (Graduate School of Nursing, CU) who visited UCD on several occasions in the last decade.

Princess Aiko, the daughter of the Emperor and Empress, attended the ceremony and delivered a special address that emphasised her longstanding respect for the profession. The ceremony was attended by approx.. 400 people.
