New to the School of Medicine

You are very welcome to the School of Medicine, Ireland’s oldest medical school and the largest school in UCD. We pride ourselves in placing community, friendship and student support at the centre of our educational approach. We are driven by a desire to provide our students with the best possible programmes and by a belief that the health professionals and scientists of tomorrow benefit from a supportive, collegial environment, in which extra-curricular talents and interests can thrive alongside academic excellence.

We are a large School and staff are located on the Belfield campus and at several hospital sites. Our School Induction Booklet for New Staff comprises some of the information that you need to know but as you settle into your role, it is likely that you will have questions. Please don’t be afraid to ask as any member of staff will be delighted to help you especially those working closest to you.

Any staff member who has recently arrived in the School should participate in the UCD Orientation Programme for new staff.

If you are a student in the School, either undergraduate or postgraduate, you should consult the Student Services Directory to see all the supports and services that are available to you as a student in UCD.

For supports specific to School of Medicine please see our page. Kathleen Kiely is the Student Adviser for the School. She is located in Room C139 in the Health Sciences Building. For appointments you can contact her via email on kathleen.kiely@ucd.ie

The School of Medicine International Team leads the School's support to international students and to Irish students on overseas placements. They provide support and advice to current and prospective students and to academic staff on the School's and University's global partnerships, international mobility programmes and related matters.
