BHLS (Biomedical Health and Life Sciences) Degree, in-person Graduation celebrated today at UCD School of Medicine

Dynamic BHLS Degree Programme offers unique opportunities to pursue careers in the sciences of health and disease

(Thurs 2nd Sept @ 11.30am) UCD School of Medicine is delighted to confer 19 graduands with BSc Degrees in BHLS (Biomedical Health and Life Sciences) today, at a face-to-face graduation ceremony on campus. The majority of students in the class are from Ireland but three of the graduates are from Oman, India and Saudi Arabia.

The four-year BHLS undergraduate degree programme is designed for students in secondary education, who have a keen interest in science and how research and technology can impact on human health. During the programme students learn how scientifically driven investigations can advance knowledge of disease prevention, detection and treatment and they immerse themselves in modern medical and biological sciences and focus on the application of scientific developments.

Speaking about the graduation, Bill Watson, Professor of Cancer Biology, UCD School of Medicine, Head of Pathology and Director of the BHLS BSc programme said ‘I would like to warmly congratulate our 19 graduates today and say how proud we are of them. These graduates will now follow scientific careers in biomedical research, pursuing opportunities in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and other areas allied to health. Some graduates have already secured MSc and PhD places in Ireland and abroad, as well as places in Graduate Entry Medicine.’

UCD School of Medicine, founded in 1854, is one of Ireland’s leading medical schools.
