UCD School of Medicine Strategic Plan 2021 - 2025 now available

UCD School of Medicine is pleased to launch the Schools’ Strategic Plan 2021 – 2025, titled Tomorrow’s Medicine

The strategy, underpinned by ten strategic objectives, recommits the School to being a globally engaged, research-intensive Medical School that contributes to discovery and prepares our graduates for practice at home and abroad.  It builds on the considerable achievements of our staff, students and alumni in line with the School’s mission to be a community of healthcare professionals and scientists that improves health outcomes through excellence in education, research, and patient care.

In summary these ten academic objectives are as follows;

  1. To deliver ambitious educational programmes
  2. To conduct high quality translational and clinical research
  3. To innovate in teaching and assessment
  4. To attract and retain staff who are driven by the pursuit of excellence
  5. To attract a diverse cohort of students and offer elective opportunities around the world
  6. To create graduates with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for professional practice
  7. To build an enduring sense of community among our students, staff and alumni.
  8. To support education and research endeavours
  9. To maintain a strong effective organisation with resource allocation that is consistent with our School’s strategic priorities.
  10. To question continuously our assumptions and collect appropriate key performance data that supports informed decision-making and organisational development

The School’s Strategic Plan also aligns with the University Strategic Plan 2020 – 2024 titled ‘Rising to the Future’ (published December 2019) and it’s four central themes; Creating a Sustainable Global Society, Transforming through Digital Technology, Building a Healthy World and Empowering Humanity.
