The UCD School of Medicine and College of Health and Agricultural Sciences (CHAS) hosted the 2022 Universitas 21 Health Sciences Group Summer School for two weeks from 4 – 15 July.

We welcomed 31 students from Universitas21 Health Sciences Group partner institutions for the first ‘In Person’ international event that the UCD School of Medicine has hosted since COVID19.  The theme of the Summer School was appropriately titled:  ‘One Health | How can a One Health approach improve our pandemic preparedness?’

With Dr Gerald Barry from the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine and UCD One Health champion alongside Dr Patrick Felle Associate Dean of Medicine for International as academic coordinators, the participants were introduced to an astounding range of speakers who collectively discussed the Irish response to COVID19.

We were very fortunate to hear from speakers who had direct involvement in the Irish response to the COVID19 pandemic. Experts who are still actively contributing to the monitoring of the current endemic stage.

We would like to thank all our speakers for sharing their experiences with the benefit of hindsight of two incredibly challenging years.
