Congratulations to Dr Eoin Cummins who organised a very successful international conference on carbon dioxide signalling recently. The meeting on 'Carbon Dioxide Detection in Biological Systems' explored common themes of carbon dioxide sensing between plant and animal kingdoms as well as clinical challenges posed by hypercapnia.

The UCD Intern Network held a very sucessful Career Advice Day on Sat 9th Nov 19 in the UCD Catherine McAuley Education & Research Centre at the Mater Hospital. Over 95 UCD interns attended keynote presentations and took part in practice interviews as they plan their careers in medicine on successful completion of their intern training programme. Our sincere thanks to the many staff who gave generously of their time to assist the next generation of doctors in Ireland.
Please be aware that UCD Graduate Studies has a new updated version of the Research and Professional Development Planning document (RPDP). This document is now one of the mandatory ones that the Transfer Assessment Panel will base its judgement on when determining if a PhD student progresses from Stage 1 to Stage 2 of a Doctoral programme, or a Research Master’s Degree Student transfers to a PhD Programme.
Applications are now invited for first-time appointment, re-appointment or promotion within the 2020 UCD Medicine Clinical Pathway. Applications should be submitted to the relevant Section Leader by Monday 6th January 2020. The outcome of the review is expected to report out by May 2020.
