Biomedical Research Degree Committee (BRDC) 

The Biomedical Research Degree Committee (BRDC) supports PhD and MSc students in the School of Medicine. The purpose of the BRDC is to provide the best possible experience for graduate research students and ensure all activities adhere to UCD academic regulations, policies and guidelines and that they follow best external standards for graduate research. The BRDC is responsible for admissions, appointment of Research Studies Panel Chairs and organisation of Stage Transfer Assessments. The BRDC makes recommendations to the university’s Graduate Research Board regarding requests for accreditation of prior learning, leave of absences, programme transfers, registration extensions, appointment of examination committees and the approval of the outcome of stage transfers assessments. The committee comprises 17 members who span the different sections in the School and includes a student representative. Assoc Prof Neil Docherty is the Chair of the committee.
