Sorbus

Sorbus Whitebeam and Mountain Ash

A genus of small to medium sized trees, grown for their flower and fruit. Flowers are white and fruits vary from white to pink, red and orange. Rowan trees commonly planted in parks and gardens and as street trees. Two species Sorbus aucuparia and S. aria are native in Ireland.  Based on their leaves, Rowan is divided into the Aucuparia group with pinnate leaves and the Aria group with entire leaves.
