The Patient Voice in Arthritis Research.

So far, over 50 individual people have been involved in helping researchers improve their research, be that through mentoring postdocs, reviewing lay communications, discussing research relevance, being part of a project advisory group, being a member of an interview panel for research hires, co-authors on peer-reviewed papers and being co-applicants on grant applications. Farmers Have Hearts

This is a collaborative research programme led by Teagasc and the Institute of Technology Carlow, in partnership with the Irish Heart Foundation, the HSE, Glanbia and UCD.  The UCD collaborators are drawn from the School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sport Science (Catherine Blake) and the School of Agriculture and Food Science (Aoife Osborne).

This programme is focussed on the cardiovascular health of farmers. It is investigating how best to deliver health promotion messages to farmers, so that there is uptake, which translates into positive health and lifestyle behaviour change and health outcomes.

The research will assess the effectiveness of a health behaviour change programme among Irish farmers in terms of follow-up use of health services; sustainable health behaviour change and reduced cardiovascular disease risk. The interventions have been designed following a consultation and qualitative research phase.
