Book Appeal for Hatch Hall Direct Provision Centre

From June 19 - 23, UCD in the Community ran a book appeal within the College of Science for the residents of Hatch Hall Direct Provision Centre. The aim of this was to alleviate some boredom that residents experience, by encouraging reading and discussions of the books. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our colleagues and friends who donated to this appeal, as we received a large volume of books. A special thank you must go to staff of Cluny Library, the school library of St. Joseph of Cluny, Killiney, as they very generously came to UCD to donate a large number of library books after reading about the book appeal on our Twitter! The staff and residents of Hatch Hall were truly delighted with the donations, and it allowed them to create a library in the centre. UCD in the Community hopes to continue to work with Hatch Hall and other direct provision centres throughout the year, to help in any way possible. If you are interested in helping in any capacity, please email ucdic@ucd.ie. In addition, we will be working alongside the students that are involved in the Failte Refugees campaign.
