Six-Times Winner: Professor Da-Wen Sun Named Highly Cited Researcher Again

Professor Da-Wen Sun, UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering, has placed in the top 1% most cited scientific researchers in the world, according to the 2020 “Highly Cited Researchers” report conducted by Clarivate Analytics. This is the 6th consecutive year that Professor Sun is ranked among the world’s most influential researchers.

Now in its seventh year, the ‘Highly Cited Researchers’ report identifies researchers over the last ten years who are leading the way in solving the world’s biggest challenges. The list is a citation analysis of researchers who are among the top 1% most cited for their field and year of publication in one or more of 21 fields of study. Professor Sun has topped this list of the world’s most cited researchers in the field of Agricultural Sciences.

Professor Sun is an Academician of six academies including Royal Irish Academy, Academia Europaea (The Academy of Europe), Polish Academy of Sciences, International Academy of Food Science and Technology, International Academy of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and International Academy of Refrigeration. He has published over 1000 papers including more than 600 peer-reviewed journal papers indexed by Web of Science, with Web of Science h-index = 103, SCOPUS h-index = 107 and Google Scholar h-index = 121, among them, 64 papers have been selected by the Essential Science IndicatorsSM as Highly Cited / Hot Papers in Field, ranking him No. 1 in the world in Agricultural Sciences (November 2020).

Congratulations to his former PhD students / postdoctoral researchers: Dr Gamal ElMasry, Dr Hongbin Pu, Dr Junhu Cheng, and Dr Mohammed Kamruzzaman, who are also among the list.

The ‘Highly Cited Researchers’ report focuses on the world’s most influential researchers, rating them by the frequency at which their work is cited. In total 6,167 researchers were recognised with the title of ‘Highly Cited Researcher’, including 26 Nobel laureates.
