Mario De Grandis has joined the Irish Institute for Chinese Studies in 2021. He currently teaches Chinese language and has previously taught courses on Chinese Culture as well as other language courses. Mario received his PhD from the Ohio State University in 2021 with a dissertation on the emergence of the Hui literary field (1954–2020). Prior to this, he completed his MA in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language at Nanjing University, China.
Mario is currently a member of the European Association of Chinese Studies, and is an MLA Elected member of the Council-appointed Standing Committee on the Status of Graduate Students in the Humanities.
Mario’s research interests include:
- Chinese folk literature
- Chinese ethnic literature (minzu wenxue)
- Digital humanities
- Sinophone Studies
- Translation Studies

马凌云是爱尔兰中国研究院的助理教授。他目前教授汉语，并曾为本科生教授过中国文化和其他语言课程。
2021，马凌云获得俄亥俄州立大学博士学位。他的博士论文分析当代回族文学(1954-2020)。之前，他在南京大学完成了对外汉语教学硕士学位。
马凌云目前是欧洲汉学学会的成员。他的研究兴趣包括：
