New Institute members, May 2019

A very warm welcome to three new Institute members this month. Tom Curran (Biosystems and Food Engineering) is the Director of the MSc Environmental Technology degree programme and has research interests including waste management and air quality, with recent work on recycling and valorising waste from the agri-food sector and developing an advance warning system for sewer network blockages (fatbergs). Sharon O’Rourke, also based in the School of Biosystems and Food Engineering, has recently returned to UCD under an IRC Starting Laureate award examining the manipulation of soil microbial communities to improve soil function. Penelope Muzanenhamo is Assistant Professor in Business in Africa in the College of Business, and Africa Lead within the UCD Centre for Business and Society (CeBaS). Penelope’s interests focus on Brand Africa, Sustainable Development, Africapitalism and African Consumer Markets.
