New Institute members, November 2019

A very warm welcome to our newest Institute members, Sarah Cotterill from the UCD School of Civil Engineering and Liana Ricci from the School of Architecture Planning and Environmental Policy.

Sarah's research focuses on recovering energy and useful products from waste and using water resources more efficiently. Specifically, she looks at resource recovery technologies in wastewater treatment, and the active control of sustainable drainage systems. Sarah has an interdisciplinary background, spanning biology, chemistry, and environmental engineering, and has worked at several universities in the UK and USA. 

Liana is a Fellow in Urban and Regional Planning at the UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy, with a background in environmental engineering urban and land use planning. Liana’s research interests concern the interface of human relations with the natural and built environments with a focus on sustainable urban and environmental planning and policy, climate change and alternative forms of infrastructure and service provision.
