New Director of Research for HSE Dublin and South East

Dr Glen Doherty, Consultant Gastroenterologist at St Vincent’s University Hospital and Full Clinical Professor at the UCD School of Medicine, has been appointed Director of Research for the HSE Dublin and South East Health Region.
The Health Region Director of Research is a senior post established to support the implementation of the HSE National Framework for the Governance, Management and Support of Research within the region. In this role, Dr Doherty will lead the HSE Health Area Research Office, providing overall direction and leadership for research governance, management and support across the Dublin and South East region.
Working in partnership with UCD, hospital and community services, and national HSE teams, Dr Doherty will oversee regional research activity and promote collaboration across clinical and academic settings in line with national standards.
He will report to Chief Academic Officer Professor Tim Lynch and work closely with emerging regional research committees to deliver on strategic objectives and strengthen research capacity and excellence across the Dublin and South East Health Region.
