Courses for Current UCD Students and Staff

Gaeltacht UCD provides Irish language courses for those who wish to learn or improve their Irish. All Gaeltacht UCD teaching materials are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) guidelines.‌ It is important to register early for the courses to ensure that you are allocated a place. The following courses are available only to current UCD students and staff.

Registration: September 2023 courses. All courses commencing September 2023 will be held live on Belfield campus.  Please note that a minimum of 10 participants is required for each level. We advise all learners to take our online placement test in order to ascertain which course level is the most appropriate.  You must use your UCD email address to apply for a course.

LEVEL B1: Preparation course for level B1 European Cerificate in Irish Exam

Online course: In addition to the courses listed above, Gaeltacht UCD offers a discount to current UCD staff members who wish to avail of additional online exercises at level B1 (Lower Intermediate) with the external organisation Gaelchultúr. Please note that this an interactive online course (without a teacher) rather than live classes on zoom. Click here to see a sample unit.
