The UCD Japan Fair kick-off seminar ‘Supporting Ageing with Communication Robots – Talk & Demonstration’ (28-09-2017)
Professor Barbara Dooley, Deputy Registrar welcomed H.E. Ambassador Mrs Mari Miyoshi, and all the guests including communication robots from Japan. Ambassador Miyoshi officially opened the seminar and the UCD Japan Fair.
The speakers included Prof. Sayuri Suwa (Chiba Univeristy), Ms Kazuko Obayashi (Tokyo Seishin-kai), Prof. Shigeru Masuyama (Tokyo Medical University) and Mr Takayuki Nakao (NTT Data, Japan). The communication robots (SOTA and PALRO) spoke and interacted with the audience.
The Japanese delegates, together with Dr Naonori Kodate (School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice/Chair, UCD Japan) also travelled to Wexford afterwards to present at the Irish Gerontological Society’s 65th Anniversary Annual Scientific Meeting in Wexford.
