UCD Data and Computational Science Students finish 6th in hackathon.

A team of UCD students has achieved 6th place finish in the Atlantec 2025 AI Challenge, part of the(opens in a new window)itag Atlantec FestivalShaping the Future of Technology Innovation. The one-day hackathon, held on May 16th, brought together innovators, tech enthusiasts, and industry leaders from across Ireland, with 18 teams competing in total.

While several teams included students, the UCD group stood out as the only student-led team to make the Top 6. The majority of other teams were composed of experienced industry professionals.

Representing UCD were Adarsh Mishra and Soham Jadhav, MSc students in Data and Computational Science, alongside Aditi Bhatia, an MSc student in Computer Science (Negotiated Learning).

The challenge tasked each team with designing and implementing an AI-driven solution to a societal issue. The UCD team focused on career upskilling for students, developing an AI-powered smart assistant that helps learners take structured, low-effort steps towards becoming industry-ready.

Reflecting on the experience, Adarsh said:

"This was our first time taking part in the event, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. We had the opportunity to apply what we’ve learned and collaborate with peers from across Ireland on AI-driven solutions."

Congratulations to Adarsh, Soham, and Aditi!
