The UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics Research Away Day was held recently in the beautiful Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland building on Merrion Square in April 2025. It was a stimulating and enjoyable day where we heard about the excellent research happening across the School in diverse areas. We also reflected on experiences and learnings from grant applications, with an expert panel sharing their insights. The day concluded with a discussion session where we discussed pressing research issues, such as the crucial role mathematics and statistics, and therefore our School, has to play in the development of AI.
