The UCD Medical Graduates Association (MGA) Alumni Reunion 2025 took place on Friday 9 May, celebrating the MB BCh BAO graduating classes of 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2015.
The day began with a welcome lunch and tours of the UCD Health Sciences Centre, offering alumni the chance to reminisce and explore the facilities used by current Medicine students. This was followed by a Scientific Symposium, where alumni speakers Dr John Mulhall (class of 1985), Dr Emer Kelly (class of 2000), Dr James Gardiner (class of 1965), Prof Harry Kennedy (class of 1980), and Dr Colin J. McCarthy (class of 2005) gave engaging presentations. The talks were chaired by Assoc. Prof Mick Molloy, who warmly welcomed Medicine alumni back to UCD.
The celebrations continued into the evening with a Drinks Reception and Gala Dinner at UCD O’Reilly Hall. There was a great sense of connection throughout the event, as alumni reflected on their shared experiences and achievements.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Distinguished Graduate Award (DGA) 2025 to Prof Kevin O’Malley and Prof Niall O’Higgins (both from the class of 1965) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to medical education, research, and clinical practice. The awards were presented by MGA President Assoc. Prof Mick Molloy, with citations delivered by Dr Patrick Felle for Prof Kevin O’Malley, and Prof Michael Keane for Prof Niall O’Higgins.
A heartfelt thank you to all who attended and helped make this a truly memorable occasion. Your presence and enthusiasm made the day one to remember!
