Did you know that only 30% of registered architects in Ireland are women?  Even though as many women as men qualify with degrees in architecture. Dervla leads a groundbreaking study, funded by IRC-Royal Institute of Architects Ireland, to examine the gender gap.

Dr Dara Stanley

Dara is an award-winning Entomologist who spearheaded the movement towards researching non-insecticide pesticides, while also a co-organiser of Soapbox Science Galway and Dublin, helping over 70 female and non-binary scientists to talk about their work with the public. 

Dr Purity Mwendwa

Purity's research underpins the notion of inclusion which calls for identifying and addressing the barriers faced by disadvantaged groups in accessing resources, services and opportunities - including community-based approaches to ending female genital mutilation.

Dr Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin

Aoibhinn is a recognised communicator and leader who has dedicated herself to increasing gender diversity in STEM, working to encourage girls and young women to consider education and career paths in physics, computer science, mathematics and engineering.   

Dr Margaret Samahita

Margaret’s research investigates individual decision-making and behavioural economics. By examining issues around gender bias and affirmative action in academia and workplace policies, she is helping to inform progress in our society.

Dr Catherine Mooney

As the head of Life Science Data Analytics Group, Catherine is tackling some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare. She is a vocal advocate for women in computing and has published several papers on the issue of underrepresentation in the field.

Neeharika Kakunuri

Neeharika is a PhD candidate in UCD School of Economics with a focus on development economics and the link between politics and economic outcomes. Her work is establishing a causal link between inheritance rights and gender-based violence in India.

Dr Paula Russell

A member of the European Urban Research Association, with a focus on issues of engagement and influence in the planning process and urban policy, especially the role of civil society, Paula is currently researching Gender Equality in Irish Architecture and Planning.   

Dr Virginie Gautier

Finding a cure for 35 Million individuals living with HIV/AIDS is one of the great global health challenges of the 21st century. Virginie is the coordinator of a European consortium which aims to accelerate state of the art research in this field.

Dr Nora Strecker

Nora is an esteemed economist with an international reputation thanks to her work on people and personal taxation at the intersection of international trade, welfare economics, and political economy, and her role as a mentor through the Women in Economics Initiative.

Dr Oana Peia

An executive committee member of the Irish Society for Women in Economics, Oana is inspiring  women to study economics and striving to ensure that women and minorities have fair representation in public debate, policy decisions and in the educational and private sectors.

Dr Maebh Harding

As a widely published family law expert who combines a critical feminist perspective with empirical, historical and doctrinal rigour, Maebh is also founding member of the IRC-funded Doing Feminist Legal Work network, bringing together legal scholars across Ireland and UK.

Prof Niamh Nowlan

Niamh is an acclaimed biomedical engineer whose groundbreaking research has led to new knowledge of foetal skeletal development and the creation of new technology to monitor movement and development in utero, attracting national and international awards.   

Prof Judith Harford

A leading voice in Irish Education, Judith leverages her scholarship to expose inequalities around gender and social class. She is raising awareness at a national level and working with policy makers to achieve greater equity in and through education.

Prof Fionnuala McAuliffe

Head of Women's and Child's Health and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UCD, Fionnuala is a renowned leader in material and foetal medicine. She has developed guidelines for pregnancy both in Ireland and in the UK, helping to improve the health of mothers and babies.
