UCD is actively developing and growing the number of beds on campus, and the development of accommodation is a key objective of the UCD Strategy 2025-2030. Priority is currently being given to new entrants, such as the UCD CAO, International students and postgraduate students. There is also allocations for scholarship programmes, exchange/ERASMUS/study abroad and continuing students.
Once the UCD Residences occupancy period begins in September some accommodation on campus may become available as a result of cancellations. These rooms will be offered to students according to their position on the accommodation waitlist.

Students can select their accommodation preferences when creating an application, and submit requests to live with specific individuals. We will do our best to accommodate these requests, however it is subject to availability of rooms and the listed preferences of both individuals. It is also important to note that there will be a mix of ages in apartments, including those who are under 18 and over 18.

We have a number of wheelchair accessible bedrooms with adaptable features, which are prioritised for students who need the specific adaptable features within the room. Priority for accessible rooms are given to students with a physical disability (for instance, students with mobility disabilities) or students who are blind/visually impaired or students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, who require the adapted features of the room.

The UCD Accommodation Pad is a dedicated website for off-campus accommodation. UCD students and staff can sign up using their UCD Connect login details. Accounts will be activated 24-72 hours after registering, and users can search for off-campus accommodations.

Upon booking a room with UCD Residences, you will receive email confirmation of the booking and regular email communications in relation to check-in. Emails are sent to your UCD Connect account.
All new residents need to complete an online induction and agree their licence to reside. All licence fees must be paid prior to check-in. First-time students will also need to upload a photo for their UCARD.
Any updates regarding your accommodation will be sent to your UCD Connect email address, or your personal email address. Please ensure that you also check your spam folders.
You will be notified by email if you have been offered accommodation on-campus, and will have a certain amount of time to respond to that query, so it is important that you regularly check your application on the Residences Portal or contact us directly if you have any concerns.
CAO students will receive their offers after they have accepted their course. Please note that it takes a few days to allocate the accommodation offers once you’ve accepted your place at UCD.

After you check in all residents will be emailed and asked to complete an inventory survey to register the condition of their accommodation. This is to alert us if anything is missing from your accommodation and to prevent any deposit deductions for marks on walls etc. The survey must be completed within 14 days of your arrival.

New UCARDs are issued from the UCARD Bureau at a charge of €20. The UCard Bureau is located in the Newman Building beside Theatre L. The resident will need to have their card recoded at the UCD Village Reception Desk for Belfield residents or in the Blackrock Campus Services Desk for Blackrock residents. If Blackrock Halls residents needs a new set of keys cut this charge is €30 and the maintenance team will cut the keys.
If you lock yourself out of your accommodation, please contact the UCD Village Welcome Desk (01 716 7000 or 01 716 1008), or the Blackrock Services Desk (01 716 8807). A member of staff will be able to let you back into your accommodation, once you have confirmed your student number and address.
If you are locked out on multiple occasions, a charge may be applied to your account in the UCD Residences Portal.
The UCD ResLife Programme aims to build a community in UCD Residences through fun activities and events. Residents are encouraged to attend events, which are generally free of charge. This is a great way to meet new people and will enhance your experience of living on campus.
For the best possible experience, we recommend that you download the Living at UCD app before you arrive in UCD. Further information can be found in the Current Residents section of the website.
You should first refer to the "Maintenance" tab in the "Essential Information" section of the UCD Residences website. If you are unable to troubleshoot the problem you should then log a maintenance request via the UCD Residences Portal or the Living at UCD app.

Each building on campus has a specific postcode, known as an Eircode, that must be added to the bottom of your delivery address. Please find a list of each unique Eircode below/
Letters will be delivered to your apartment Monday to Friday between 18:00 and 21:00. Please ensure that you include your full name and address on any post that is being delivered to the campus.
If you are ordering a package or parcel, you will receive an email to your UCD Connect email address alerting you. After you receive this email, you can collect your package from the Merville Mailroom. Our Mailroom is open Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00. Please bring your UCard with you when collecting your package. Proby and Blackrock residents will receive an email informing them of a package to collect from the Blackrock Campus Services Desk.
Unfortunately our Mailroom can only accept packages delivered by An Post. Packages that are delivered by couriers will have to be arranged between the student and the courier.
Please note that there are no deliveries of post at the weekend or bank holidays.
Each residence offers bicycle stands which residents have access to. Bicycles should be locked at the stands provided and remain the responsibility of the resident.
Under the terms of the Licence to Reside, residents are not allowed to bring bicycles into the buildings. UCD Residences accept no responsibility for bicycles locked on the premises. Residents should be aware that bicycles locked to lamp posts etc. will be removed.
Residents living on campus are not eligible for a parking permit (exceptions for research students upon making a valid case and those living on the Blackrock Campus). Please see UCD Commuting for information or contact UCD Commuting Services at commuting@ucd.ie for queries.
As the apartments are not fitted with washing machines or dryers, laundry facilities are provided through self-service launderettes. Launderettes are operated by contactless debit / credit card payment systems.
Launderettes are located in The Village, Ashfield, Belgrove, Blackrock, Glenomena and Roebuck. The cost for a wash cycle is €3.00 and for a dry is €1.50.
Please note that clothes horses and drying racks are not permitted in UCD Residences due to the moisture and dampness they can create in rooms. We encourage all residents to avail of the dryers in each residence.
There are designated recycling centres in each residence. Your apartment also has coloured bins to encourage recycling and we would ask you to segregate your refuse before disposing of it.
Residents can check their accounts via the UCD Residences Portal. From here you can view accounts, pay fees, log maintenance requests etc.

The cost of insurance in respect to personal belongings kept in the residences is included in the first instalment of fees paid.

To ensure all residents live in a safe, hygienic environment and to prevent unnecessary damage and neglect of UCD Residences property housing audits are carried out once per semester.

If there are problems in the apartment, we advise residents to communicate in person with their house mates. Often the impact of behaviour may not be realised. Given that you will be living together for the academic year it is always best to try and resolve any differences together first.
If this does not solve the problems please query it with the UCD Village Welcome Desk team to see can they offer any solutions or help mediate a possible conversation.

The UCD Village Welcome Desk is open 24/7. If you are disturbed by noise at night please call our Welcome Desk and we will deal with the residents who are causing a disturbance.

In line with current RTB Legislation, if you wish to cancel your accommodation on-campus within the License Period, you are required to give a 28-day notice to end your stay in UCD residences by submitting a cancellation request on the UCD Residences Portal. You will be liable to pay the License Fee and any associated charges up to the end of the 28-day notice period or such longer period of notice provided in the cancellation request.

Booking applications for the next academic year (2025/26) are currently open for incoming international postgraduate students and incoming international undergraduate students.
International students can avail of a single trimester booking, a two trimester booking or a three trimester booking, subject to availability. Students are be able to choose accommodation type preferences ie. en-suite, shared bathroom or studio accommodation.
Rooms will be allocated at a later date based on the preferences given in the booking application and subject to the availability of campus accommodation.

In order to book on-campus accommodation, you must pay a deposit. In line with (opens in a new window)(opens in a new window) Residences Tenancy Board legislation, this deposit will be returned to you 28 days after you check-out of UCD Residences, provided that there is no damage to the room.
There are a lot of benefits to living on-campus. The location is extremely convenient, and you will be given access to a whole host of amenities in UCD Residences such as an on-site gym, restaurants, shops, as well as many free ResLife activities to help you settle in to life in Dublin. However, living on-campus is not essential to get the best out of your university experience.
UCD Residences is open to all UCD students, mixed genders and ages.
While it is not possible to choose who you live with, where possible we try and locate general cohorts of students together, for example, post grads etc.
It is important to also note that occasionally students under 18 and over 18 can share an apartment.
UCD Residences offers a variety of on-campus options. There are two campuses where students may choose to live: the main Belfield Campus where the majority of students will live, and the Blackrock Smurfit Campus which is recommended for students who will be attending classes in Smurfit.
Students will be able to choose from a range of accommodation options such as catered or non-catered accommodation, shared bathroom or en-suite accommodation and there is also an option to book a studio apartment, either shared or individual.

When making a booking application, you will be asked to give your 3 preferences for accommodation ( i.e en-suite or non en-suite, catered or non -catered). After you have submitted your preferences, you will be allocated a room based on which 3 preferences you have provided.
Unfortunately on-campus accommodation is not guaranteed for all international students as it operates on a first come first served basis. This does not apply to ERASMUS, Exchange or Study Abroad students, and we recommend students in those cohorts contact us directly for more information. As well as making a booking application for on-campus accommodation, we would advise that all applicants research and explore off-campus accommodation to ensure that they get accommodation.
In order to book accommodation, you will need your unique 8 digit student number. Prospective students will need to accept an offer from UCD in order to receive this student number.

This notifies you should your preference for accommodation become available. The website also has a message board. Letting agents are independent businesses and specialise in the rental market. Many, but not all, charge a non-refundable registration, booking and administration fee plus deposits. So, before you pay for any services or lists of accommodation, have a clear understanding what services you will be receiving from paying a fee.

Apartments are equipped with a standard duvet and pillow. For further information on what is provided, please visit the Residences page. Residents will need to bring bedlinen, towels, kitchenware, cutlery, pots, pans, bowls, cups, glasses and anything else you think they may need.
The specific rent for each apartment can be found in our Fees section. The final rent price listed includes utilities, license fees, and for Roebuck Castle residents, catering. Upon receiving an offer, applicants must pay a deposit in order to accept. The deposit is then returned 28 days after they depart or 28 days at the end of the License to Reside.
Unfortunately it is not possible for any guests to stay in the residences during the first few weeks of the academic year. Residents can apply for guests to stay with them for short stays at a time throughout designated periods of the term.

UCD Residences Rules and Regulations are designed to contribute towards an enjoyable, safe, harmonious and peaceful living experience. Whilst the main set of rules and regulations are contained in the Licence to Reside, additional rules can be found in our guide to Managing Breaches of the Rules.
In addition to the UCD Residence Rules and Regulations, residents are expected to abide by and be bound by all policies published by the University relating to student conduct, health, safety, welfare or other occupational issues.
It should be noted that being a resident of UCD Residences offers no special protection against the law of the land. The University has been, and is, prepared to use the normal procedures of the law in the event of offences of a criminal or civil nature.
