The introduction of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Act (2014) has raised awareness of the need for a change of focus in the delivery of services from legislative compliance to a regard for fairness and equality. This course goes beyond regulatory and legislative issues and examines what a commitment to human rights and equality means in ethical terms. Having a human rights focus requires cultural transformation to civic life as well as structural changes to the delivery of public services. This course aims to help participants to gain a human rights focus generally with particular emphasis on the implications for the workplace and public institutions.
