IICS Public Lecture and the 45th Confucius PhD Student Forum Successfully Held

The UCD Irish Institute for Chinese Studies (IICS) hosted a public lecture / 45th Confucius PhD Student Forum on 4 November 2021. Professor Liming Wang, Director of the IICS, presented the lecture titled “The Irish Economy and The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic” to an audience of 50 academic staff and research students.

Professor Wang firstly introduced the background of the economic growth enjoyed by both China and Ireland throughout the past 40 years. The lecture then presented an overview of the development of the Irish economy and identified key features of its economic structure, FDI and tax system. In the third section, the talk transitioned to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ireland’s response and its economic impact. Finally, the speaker provided insightful analysis on the economic recoveries and challenges which lie ahead for Ireland.

Future talks will be held quarterly throughout the academic year via hybrid methods while following the health guidelines issued by the University and the HSE. All are welcome to join us here at the IICS.

爱尔兰中国研究院公共讲座暨第45届孔子博士生论坛成功举办

2021114日,都柏林大学爱尔兰中国研究院举办IICS公共讲座暨第45届孔子博士生论坛公共讲座。爱尔兰中国研究院的院长王黎明教授面向 50 名学术人员和研究生做了题为爱尔兰经济概况及Co疫情的影响的讲座。

王教授首先介绍了中爱两国40年来经济增长的背景。讲座随后概述了爱尔兰经济的发展,并确定了其经济结构、外国直接投资和税收制度的主要特征。在第三部分,谈话过渡到 COVID-19 疫情爱尔兰的反应及其经济影响。最后,演讲者对爱尔兰面临的经济复苏和挑战进行了深入分析。

未来的讲座将结合线上和线下的方式,每季度举行一次。欢迎大家参加。
