Coffee Morning: Hannah Boast

Israeli and Palestinian Environmental Imaginaries

The Israel-Palestine conflict is often understood as a conflict over land, but it is also a dispute over how the land is imagined. Hannah discusses the importance of literary and cultural representations of the Palestinian/Israeli environment for the Palestinian and Israeli national movements, drawing on historical posters, contemporary photography, and her recent book Hydrofictions: Water, Power and Politics in Israeli and Palestinian Literature (Edinburgh University Press, 2020).
