Coffee Morning: Internet of Things Data Collection and Management for Ecological Sensing

Internet of Things Data Collection and Management for Ecological Sensing

We're delighted to welcome Declan Delaney from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering to give this week's coffee morning and he'll be talking about his work on Internet of Things (IoT) data collection and management for ecological sensing. IoT devices have allowed real-time pervasive observation in ecological and environmental settings. The promise of inexpensive data collection with low cost IoT sensor nodes with advantages in speed and ease of deployment of sensors in the field make this solution attractive. Specific quality assessment and data management is necessary, however, for any IoT deployment. This talk will discuss some of the practical elements of introducing IoT data collection streams into a project, as well as analytical tools for maintaining robust data sets with IoT deployments.
