Macra Agricultural Skillnet Funding: UCD Micro-credentials in Agriculture and Innovation

Macra Agricultural Skillnet has partnered with the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science to offer funding opportunities for individuals seeking to enhance their expertise in the Agri-food sector. 

Macra Agricultural Skillnet's funding initiative will cover 30% of the course fees for two specialised UCD micro-credentials in; Advance Animal Nutrition and Communication and Agri-Innovation (subject to availability and eligibility). Both micro-credentials are flexible and online, specifically designed for busy professionals and those with other responsibilities. On successful completion, learners gain 10 ECTS at Level 9/postgraduate. 

The courses supported by the Macra Agricultural Skillnet funding cater to the growing demands experienced by the sector:

  1. Advance Animal Nutrition - This micro-credential focuses on advancing expertise in animal nutrition, specifically in ruminant and simple-stomached animals. It offers a comprehensive review of fundamental concepts while updating participants on recent advancements. Ideal for professionals in animal health, welfare, product development, animal feed manufacturing, and livestock agriculture, this course caters to a diverse range of roles seeking specialised insights into animal nutrition.

  2. Communication and Agri-Innovation - This micro-credential is a short course designed for individuals who want to enhance their communication skills and gain a better understanding of the importance of research, communication, and innovation in the agri-food sector today. It would be ideal for a range of candidates, in particular those who are currently working in the agri-food sectors and animal health industry, including; practitioners (veterinary surgeons, nurses and allied staff) seeking to upskill in immunobiology, regulatory bodies, government departments, NGOs or trade organisations, journalists, teachers in agricultural science and commercial companies.
