The Acclimatize 2 team is now inviting applications from undergraduate students for a limited number of summer studentships. We are looking for reliable, motivated and enthusiastic individuals to help conduct beach surveys and collect and analyse water samples from rivers and beaches in Dublin Bay. These studentships will provide students with an exciting opportunity to gain fieldwork and laboratory experience as part of a multidisciplinary research project.
Eligibility Second, third and fourth year undergraduate students are invited to apply. Applicants should have a keen interest in environmental research with a background in microbiology, environmental science, biochemistry, genetics or a related discipline. Applicants should show a high level of motivation to work within a team and a flexibility towards the programme of work.
Fieldwork will take place under all weather conditions, so it is important that you have wet weather gear. Safety equipment will be provided where necessary.
Dates The studentships require a full-time commitment for a period of 12 weeks from Tuesday 2nd June – Friday 21st August 2026.
Location You will be based at University College Dublin during the studentship. Fieldwork will be located in river catchments and beaches in Dublin Bay, so it is essential that you are able to work in these environments.
Funding: These full-time studentships provide support at a rate of €300 per week (paid monthly in arrears).
