MSc in Artificial Intelligence for Medicine & Medical Research

Systems Biology Ireland co-developed a unique master’s programme that trains learners to use Artificial Intelligence and data science to tackle real-world challenges in healthcare and medicine. Combining biology, medicine, and computing, it aims to improve disease diagnosis and treatment. Ideal for scientists and programmers, it covers both foundational and advanced skills through hands-on projects and real data. Read more here.

Postgraduate Opportunities

Systems Biology Ireland is a research centre within the UCD School of Medicine, dedicated to fostering multidisciplinary research into human disease. The Centre welcomes graduate students pursuing research degrees, particularly those interested in systems biology and omics approaches.

If you are considering a postgraduate degree with the Centre, we recommend exploring the Research and Team webpages to identify potential supervisors and research topics. Contact information for all investigators is provided.

Once you’ve reached out to a potential supervisor, they can guide you on available postgraduate opportunities and the next steps. Additional information on how to register for a postgraduate degree through the UCD School of Medicine is available here.

Internships & Work Experience

The Systems Biology Ireland Centre offers limited opportunities for individuals seeking work experience in a systems biology research environment. Availability depends on desk/bench space and funding constraints.

If you're interested in a research placement, please first visit our Research and Team webpages to identify a potential supervisor and area of interest. Once you've made contact, the supervisor can guide you through the steps needed to arrange a placement. For applicants from outside UCD, your supervisor may ask you to complete a short-term visitor form.

Due to high demand, we recommend submitting an enquiry at least six months before your intended start date. Please note that participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation.
