About the Group

What we do 

Malignant melanoma is a skin cancer that is one of the deadliest cancers because of its tendency to spread rapidly and its resistance to drugs. The introduction of Raf inhibitors has profoundly changed the therapy of metastatic melanoma. However, despite impressive response rates resistance develops fast and frequently. Resistance is mainly due to network adaptations that bypass the drug blockade. 

Our research focuses on elucidating the underlying mechanisms and the network adaptations of drug resistance in order to design personalized drug combinations that can avoid or overcome this resistance. In addition, we aim to derive diagnostic biomarkers that predict which drug combinations will be most effective for individual patients.
